Walnut, with inlay of various timbers within tinted moldings; pine sub-structure.
Chest of drawers/desk in two parts, with inlaid panels depicting biblical and mythological subjects including Caen and Abel, a River God; drawer fronts centering intarsia with various animals including squirrels, falcons, lions, birds and horses. Period bronze pulls probably replaced the original wood knobs at an early date. The interior fitted with a bank of drawers and compartments; each foot with a merman, inscribed on the back with initials and dated 1701
