Peruvian Silver Liturgical  Bucket with Handle,
18th century
This type of silver bucket used in church for bringing holy water from the sacristy to the altar, an essential concomitant in the Roman Mass and in some Protestant masses, is of graceful, urn form, with triple curve handle, riveted to the rim at finely executed lion’s masks.  The body engraved with loose foliates and leaves.
